Summary

The Temple of the Equinox takes the privacy of coven members and viewers of this website very seriously.  No personal information is ever released without express permission from the owner.

If you only read the Temple of the Equinox website, no more information is collected than is typically collected in server logs by web sites in general.

If you are a member of The Temple of the Equinox coven, personal information of yours is stored on this site, and you will be required to log into this site to get to features available only to coveners.  Some information that you post to this site is available to other members, but your personal information is only ever available to the website administrators.

Temple of the Equinox and Public Data

Simply visiting this web site does not expose your identity publicly.  We do not collect any information other than what is noted below.

Private logging

Every time you visit a web page, you send information to the web server.  Most web servers routinely maintain access logs with a portion of this information, which can be used to get an overall picture of what pages are popular, what other sites link to this one, and what web browsers people are using.  It is not the intention of the Temple of the Equinox to use this information to keep track of legitimate users.  These logs are used to produce the site statistics; the raw log data is not made public.

Log data may be examined by developers in the course of solving technical problems, in tracking down badly behaved web spiders that overwhelm the site, or very rarely to correlate usernames and IP addresses of members in investigating abuse.

Policy on release of data derived from page logs

It is the policy of Temple of the Equinox that personally identifiable data in any form on this website will not be released, except as follows:

       1. In response to a valid subpoena or other compulsory request from law enforcement

       2. With permission of the affected user

       3. To the Administrators of Temple of the Equinox, legal counsel, or designee, when necessary for investigation of abuse complaints and management of site users.

       4. Where the information pertains to page views generated by a spider or bot and its dissemination is necessary to illustrate or resolve technical issues.

       5. Where the user has been vandalizing the site or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, data may be released to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers

       6. Where it is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Temple of the Equinox, its users, members, or the public.

Temple of the Equinox policy does not permit public distribution of such information under any circumstances, except as described above.

Cookies

The Equinox will set a temporary session cookie whenever you visit the site.  If you are not a member and you do not intend to ever log in, you may deny this cookie, but you cannot log in without it.  It will be deleted when you close your browser session.

Sharing information with third parties

The Temple of the Equinox will never share member information or website logs with any third party, nor do we sell information to other companies or agencies except where noted above

Except where otherwise noted, all information and material on this site is property of Temple of the Equinox and may not be copied or reproduced without explicit written permission from Temple of the Equinox entailing what material will be reproduced.

Temple of the Equinox will not sell or share private information, such as email addresses, with third parties, unless you agree to release this information, or it is required by law to release the information.

E-mail, mailing lists and Chat

E-mail

All coven and online members will be provided with an Equinox email address they may use for their profile on the website and communicating with other members if they wish.  All members will have the option of hiding their email address from other members, but email addresses will only be accessible by other coven or online members.

Members must provide an alternate e-mail address to verify their account, and to provide an address to send lost passwords.  Your alternate email address will not be revealed to other members.  The email address may be used by the Temple of the Equinox to communicate with users on a wider scale, or if they are not able to respond on their Equinox address.

You can remove your alternate email address from your preferences at any time after verifying your account to prevent it being used.

Mailing lists

If you subscribe to one of the forum mailing lists, your email address may be exposed to any other member who subscribes to the same list.  The list archives of Temple of the Equinox's mailing lists are not open to the public.  Mails are usually not deleted or modified, but it may be done in some cases such as spam.

Chat

The Temple of the Equinox website does not currently have a working chat room, but we hope to be adding chat features soon.  Until then, the Temple of the Equinox will be using third party chat programs such as Yahoo, Paltalk, and Camfrog for private chat, discussion groups, and online lessons.  To improve on our forums and lessons, all online forums, chat rooms (including third party chat programs), and private chats on this site will be logged by Temple of the Equinox.  Chat and forum logs are only available to Temple of the Equinox administrators, and will never be available to the public without a court order.

User data

Data on users, such as the times at which they have logged in and their activities on the Temple of the Equinox website are not publicly available.  Member information is only available to site administrators except for that information that is shown on the website in the member's profile, which they choose what information to show and this information is only viewable by members who have logged into the website.

Creation of User Accounts

The Temple of the Equinox is extremely picky about who they give user accounts to.  All website members must fill out a profile, and must verify their email address within 24 hours of account creation, and they are unable to contact other members until they have verified their email address.  User accounts are also limited only to coven members who have a real general interest in learning Wicca and the Equinox Tradition.

Removal of user accounts

Once created, user accounts can be removed at any time by contacting the site administrator at web@theequinox.org.  It may be possible for a developer to change the username on an account, but you will need to request this yourself.  The Temple of the Equinox does not guarantee that a name will be changed on request.

When an account is deleted by the site administrator, whether by request or conduct of the user, all user information is deleted.  This also includes saved files, profile, account information, payment information, email account, and all saved emails.
